Bank of Main Street
The Hat Shop~Opera House & Bank of
Main Street was the seventh in the
Main Street collection to be released.
The premiere was December 11, 2004.
The miniature retails for $180.00 at
the Disneyana, Disney Gallery, The
World of Disney and Off The Page, at
Disney's California Adventure.
The Opera House was not only a 1955
original, it was the first of the Main
Street buildings to be completed.
During the holiday season of 1961, the
Opera House became an attraction
when Walt Disney brought the set from
the musical Babes in Toyland to
Disneyland. From 1963 to 1964 the
Opera House became the headquarters
for the "Mickey Mouse Club". Then on
July 18, 1965, Great Moments With Mr.
Lincoln premiered. The attraction first
premiered in the 1964-1965 New York
World's Fair. For the 50th Anniversary
of Disneyland the Opera House has
been transformed to "Disneyland - The
First 50 Magical Years".
To the right of the Opera House is the
Bank of Main Street, the new home for
the Annual Pass Port center, the ATM
has been moved to the out side wall. To
the left of the Opera House is the Mad
Hatter Shop.
To many of us the Bank Of Main Street
is the first thing we see returning to
Disneyland. The miniature designed by
Master Artist Robert Olszewski evokes
fond memories of treasured pastimes.
From the navy blue awnings and bank
poster to the small green hat above the
Mad Hatter no detail is overlooked.
There is even a texture put into the art
piece of the bricks lining the second
story of the buildings. Every time I
look at this piece I see something new.
